More space and contemporary living in the 2007 Abbey GTS and Spectrum ranges

06/09/2006

The Abbey GTS and Spectrum ranges are fresh and modern with higher specification equipment and more useable space following an impressive range of improvements for 2007.

Exteriors across both ranges offer a better external finish than standard caravans with new high gloss one-piece heavy gauge aluminium side walls, that not only look good but are more durable thanks to their harder finish. New alloy wheels unique to Abbey and smart new graphics in warm nickel metallic colours add to the appeal.

A new more stylish entrance door, with window and built-in waste bin, features improved closing and locking action and a new, easy-to-use concertina action door flyscreen that fits neatly across the door.

Other additions for 2007 are a satellite aerial input point conveniently situated in the battery box and a pressurised water system with Shurflo pump and all-metal domestic taps that are less vulnerable to frost. New universal gas bottle retainers are suitable for both Calor and new BP bottles.

Interiors in both ranges are enhanced with new improved furniture design and layouts using new contemporary “Ferrara” light oak woodgrain furniture and new chenille soft furnishings – “Vicko” abstract design in GTS and “Novelle” soft stripe in Spectrum. All Spectrums and GTS models 418, 419 and 517 have a new 2.3m (7’6”) width offering more useful space in living areas and washrooms.

New light-coloured wallboards create a calm environment in living areas and kitchens, while washroom wallboards have a fresh, modern design. Interior lighting is improved with new co-ordinated 230V and 12V light fittings.

For 2007, lockers as well as seats have been built using spaceframe technology, making them stronger and precision-built and enabling cable-runs to be built-in. It also creates more usable underseat storage with complete front access.

Other new additions to make interiors even more home-from-home include a 107-litre fridge with salad drawer, full width freezer compartment and digital displays and controls and a built-in microwave oven with supplier-approved vented installation.

In addition to these new features, the Spectrum 540 offers an impressive 180-litre combined fridge/freezer with wine cooler and digital display/controls for energy selection and temperature.

Other features, which benefit all Spectrum layouts, include an internal 45-litre fresh water tank with filling pump and level gauge, 22-litre wheeled waste water container, lockable rear corner steadies and an Al-Ko side-mounted jack.

The GTS range sees two new layouts, the open-plan fixed bed 418 wide four-berth and the innovative 419 wide four-berth with a separate twin-bedded room. Two layouts in the range are significantly improved for 2007. These are the two-berth 215, with an improved kitchen, dresser and end washroom, and the four-berth GTS 416 with parallel front and a new improved washroom. This is a longer van with a longer kitchen and an extra storage unit between the offside seats. The five model line up is completed by the well-proven 517 five-berth with centre washroom and separate shower cubicle, much improved by the extra body width.

The three models in the Spectrum range all now boast 2.3m (7’6”) overall width. The proven, popular 535 and 540 models with fixed double beds are joined by the new 545 with separate fixed twin beds and end washroom.

Key security devices to both ranges include an Al-Ko Secure wheel lock system, which provides maximum protection against theft in storage; heavy duty corner steadies; and a key fob-operated alarm system with passive infra-red and tilt sensors.
